Once again we took to the Shropshire Union Canal (Birmingham and Liverpool Junction Canal). Again from Norbury Wharf, and again on a Dayboat Hire. This time, we had Valiant, another on of the 29′ dayboats.
There are two differences about this trip: 1) We went North, and, 2) Norbury Wharf let me have the boat for free…
Little bit of explanation. Companies generally do not give £150 quid day jollies out for free, and I didn’t ask for it. But after I redid their maps for them, Dave offered me the use of a boat. It was unexpected, I just redid the maps as the old ones were about 20 years old (and showed it), but I wasn’t going to turn it down.
No, this isn’t going to be a big advert for Norbury Wharf Ltd.
Anyway, the North Route runs from Norbury Junction to The Wharf Tavern at Goldstone, and back again. It takes about three hours each way.
Some photos? Oh ok…
So that was on Valiant. In the past we’ve had Intrepid and Victory. That only leaves Defiant. I hate leaving things unfinished!
