On June 29th, 2019, we again hired one of the Day Boats from Norbury Wharf. Again we took the south route, but only got as far as High Onn before having to return.
The boat this time was the Intrepid, another of the 32 foot boats. Here it is again:
With a much reduced crew this time, there was plenty of space for the five of us.
Sharon and Marg acting as Forward Observers.
Who promptly forgot about giving us warnings about hazards ahead…
Shirked their duty…
And failed to spot any of the overly elaborate landing stages…
Meanwhile, back at the blunt end, Simon and John took some at the helm.
John poses a bit…
Marg takes charge of the Gallery…
And we swiftly crash into the bank. But we’ll gloss over that sordid incident.
Obligatory “along the roof” picture:
Last time I was down this way, I’m sure I saw a bloke carrying a banjo and a shotgun…
Stopped at The Navigation in Gnosall for some much needed refuelling:
We stopped at The Boat too, for some chips, but as they charged us £7 for a plate, they don’t get a photo.
Stopping cost us more that that though, as the Defiant, another Dayboat, used our pit stop to pass us.
End of the day, sitting in The Wharf at Norbury, overlooking the Victory, the Intrepid, and the Shropshire Star.
And some other boats, just the other side of the bridge…
